Get started with Hadoop data analytics

If you are looking to get started with Hadoop and BigInsights, the free Hadoop Fundamentals I course on Big Data University is probably the best way to do so. It's an interactive series of exercises with a test at the end to verify your knowledge.

However, a couple articles have been published recently that are handy if you're looking for something lighter.

Raul Chong's Get started with Hadoop-based data analytics on IBM SmartCloud Enterprise gives a good grounding in how to provision your own Hadoop cluster in the SCE environment. Incidentally, the cloud image templates referenced in the article were developed by your humble blog author.

On a higher level, Cynthia Saracco's Understanding InfoSphere BigInsights explains what BigInsights (often abbreviated as BigI) represents and how it fits in with other offerings like InfoSphere Streams and the delightfully named BigSheets.

Cheers,
